Sharing Olympic experiences to empower event preparation: Yu Hong delivers training for World Athletics Championships Beijing 27

Entrusted by the Organizing Committee of the World Athletics Championships Beijing 27, BODA is assisting in organizing specialized training for event preparation. The first training session took place on April 16, with Yu Hong, former Director of the IT Department of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, as the expert lecturer. The session focused on explaining the current foundational planning framework, covering the scope of the event technology system, the stakeholders receiving technical services, the management of technology vendors, and the policies and contingency plans for technical operations and services during the event. The training series fully leverages BODA’s strength in gathering human resource legacies from the two Olympic Games to support highstandard, highquality preparations for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 27 and to implement the task of “making good use of the dual Olympic legacy to establish Beijing as a prominent host of international sports events” as set in the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan of Beijing Municipality.

Drawing on the handson experience gained from the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Yu Hong elaborated on the scope of the event technology system, the stakeholders receiving technical services, and key points in the end-to-end management of technology vendors. She also provided a detailed interpretation of the technical operations and service policies during the event, the risk prevention and control framework, and contingency plans. This provided authoritative, professional, and practical guidance for the preparation of the World Athletics Championships Beijing 27, helping staff grasp key aspects of technical planning and implementation and turn the dual Olympic legacy into a powerful driving force for event preparation.

BODA will, within the framework for event organization, sort out the logic for master plan preparation, its core elements, and milestones, and guide staff to master the “planning, scheduling, and execution” methodology, thereby laying a solid foundation for the staging of the event.

Zhou Ling, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, also attended the event, alongside relevant staff for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 27.
