The “Spirit of Beijing 2022” themed exhibition, co-sponsored by the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre and Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), was held at BJUT on 24 December 2025, as part of the exhibition’s university outreach programme.

Fu Xiaohui, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Director of the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre,, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony of the exhibition. He noted that in order to study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on managing and utilising the legacy of Beijing 2022, and to fulfill the municipal government’s requirement of doing a good job in advancing post-Games work, the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre has meticulously developed a four-pronged outreach programme for the “Spirit of Beijing 2022” themed exhibition this year. Building on the launch of the exhibition in Beijing in 2022 and its subsequent tour in other cities including Hotan (Xinjiang), Yushu (Qinghai), Lhasa (Xizang), and Zhangjiakou (Hebei) in 2023, the programme seeks to bring the Spirit of Beijing 2022 into government agencies, campuses, communities and villages. This event marks the final stop of the programme for the year, aiming to inspire young students to embrace the Spirit of Beijing 2022 and grow into pillars of the nation capable of shouldering great responsibilities. BJUT is the only municipal key university in Beijing that is part of both the national “211 Project” and the “Double First-Class” initiative, while the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre is an influential institution for inheriting the “Dual Olympics” legacy. It is hoped that this event will provide an opportunity for the two sides to forge a strong partnership for mutual benefit and development, and to make new and greater contributions to continuing the glory of the “Dual Olympic City” and composing a new chapter for Beijing in achieving Chinese modernisation.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, He Ming, Secretary of the CPC Committee of BJUT, stated that this themed exhibition presents not only a visual feast but also an inspiring experience. The university will seize this opportunity to collaborate with the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre to build a comprehensive, multi-level, and sustainable cooperation platform encompassing Olympic education, sports-based ideological and political education, cultural preservation, and talent cultivation. The university will leverage its strengths in education, technology, and talent to integrate the “Dual Olympics” culture with sports-based ideological and political education as well as talent development, jointly contributing to the “Dual Olympics” segment for the ideological-political curriculum of Beijing as the capital city. The university will also facilitate research on the Olympic legacy; do a good job in presenting the stories about the Olympics and China; cement partnership in internship and social practice programs to better integrate industries, universities, research institutes, and users; and enhance cooperation regarding the Olympic-themed museum, supporting the development of Beijing as a “City of Museums.” In this way, the university aims to inject new and strong impetus into inheriting the Olympic legacy, promoting the Olympic spirit, cultivating new talents for the new era, and serving the capital’s development, and thus make more brilliant contributions to the “Dual Olympic City.”

BJUT is one of Beijing’s six universities housing venues for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. During the Games, it hosted the badminton and rhythmic gymnastics events. Afterwards, the venue has been transformed into a cultural and sports activity center, serving as a training base for the national badminton team and a community fitness facility. BJUT is also the first university in China to have established the “Dual Olympics” themed museum. Focusing on the four aspects of resonating in harmony, the passionate Summer Olympics, the Winter Olympics, and the Dual Olympics legacy, the museum highlights the university’s role in serving national strategic priorities. It showcases how the university has aligned its development with both the capital’s overall growth and the “Dual Olympics,” and highlights the commitment of its faculty and students to the “Dual Olympics.”
