As the 10th anniversary of Beijing’s successful bid for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games is approaching, a group of senior journalists and hosts in the fields of sports, culture, tourism and communication from Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily Overseas Edition, China Media Group, China Daily, China News Service and other central and municipal media organisations spent two days visiting key areas along the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt at the invitation of the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre. During the visit, they attended a conference with relevant departments of Zhangjiakou City and Chongli District of Beijing and Olympic venue owners, where they discussed innovative practices and future pathways for the development of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt.
The tour group visited Yudu Mountain in Yanqing District of Beijing, Haituo Valley in Chicheng County of Zhangjiakou City, Fulong FengLingYueGu Leisure Block in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou Olympic Village, the National Ski Jumping Centre and Taizicheng Heritage Museum, and checked out representative projects in terms of regional collaboration, quality tourism, creation of sports scenarios, cultural brand building and other aspects. They also visited the ongoing themed exhibition “Beijing 2022 Games Promotes the Development of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt” at the National Ski Jumping Centre. Through the tours, they got a comprehensive understanding of the diversified post-Games operations of venues, the integration of cultural and historical resources and the innovations in cultural and tourism consumption scenarios.

At a conference held in the Zhangjiakou Olympic Village, representatives from the Zhangjiakou Municipal Bureau of Sports, the Chongli District Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau and Zhangjiakou Xingyuan Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd. introduced in detail the progress and achievements in the development of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt, highlighting the efforts to promote the efficient utilisation of the Olympic legacy, deepen Beijing-Zhangjiakou cooperation and inspire new vitality of the ice and snow economy. Based on their fieldwork, media representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on how to further improve the event system, deepen the integration of culture and tourism, adopt new communication and promotion strategies and enhance the visitor experience. They also offered suggestions for taking the development of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt to the next level. The attendees unanimously agreed on the importance of harnessing the power of culture, integrating resources for targeted communication, enriching the forms of business at Olympic venues, and improving the venue utilisation efficiency. They also reached a consensus on accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt, promoting the sustainable development of the regional economy, society and environment, and contributing Chinese wisdom to leveraging the Olympic legacy to promote the long-term development of the host cities.

This event is an important component of the 16th Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival, focusing on the development of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt. It aims to pool wisdom from central and local media organisations to empower regional development and promote resource sharing and win-win cooperation between Beijing and Zhangjiakou.
