At the opening ceremony, Huang Jianjun introduced three culture, sports and tourism projects that have been jointly developed by Beijing and Zhangjiakou, namely, the “Joyful Road of the Winter Olympics” smart track, the “Most Beautiful Riverbank” horse trail in the Yanghe River Basin, and the Sports/Tourism Integration Demonstration Zone along the Beijing-Yuxian Expressway. The “Joyful Road of the Winter Olympics” smart track was jointly launched by the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre with Zhangjiakou City and Yanqing District, Changping District and Chaoyang District of Beijing in 2024. It starts at the Beijing Olympic Village, ends at the Chongli Olympic Park in Zhangjiakou and extends to the Guyuan Grass Skyline Scenic Road, with a total length of 236.3 kilometres. There are 19 iconic locations along the road, including 12 in Zhangjiakou. It is a popular short-distance outdoor sports destination in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, featuring winter sports, cross-country mountain biking, grassland hiking and cycling. The dedicated Weixin Mini Programme of the “Joyful Road of the Winter Olympics” offers a range of features such as event registration, weather services, medical point search and catering services.

The “Most Beautiful Riverbank” horse trail in the Yanghe River Basin starts from Shangyi County of Zhangjiakou, passes through Huaian County, Xuanhua District, Xiahuayuan District and Huailai County, and extends to Yanqing District of Beijing. Based on the pristine riverbank landscape of the Yanghe River, the project offers both professional venues for equestrian events and spaces for leisure riding. The multi-scenario composite track system supports a variety of functions, including competitive races, youth training and cultural tourism experiences. With these diverse offerings, the project seeks to become a leading equestrian centre in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and a landmark for the integration of equestrian and cultural tourism.

The Sports/Tourism Integration Demonstration Zone along the Beijing-Yuxian Expressway starts from Mentougou District of Beijing and passes through Zhuolu County and Wei County of Zhangjiakou, connecting four popular outdoor sports landmarks along China National Highway 109. The project features three core offerings: exploring historical and cultural heritage, engaging in outdoor leisure activities and enjoying impressive eco-tourism experiences. It aims to create a unique model of sports and tourism integration.

The exhibition also demonstrates the role of the winter Olympic legacy in driving regional development, and highlights the Chinese wisdom and solutions of Beijing and Zhangjiakou in promoting regional development by hosting the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

According to the host, the Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival added a  section dedicated to the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt in 2024. Over the past year, all stakeholders have collaborated closely on the development of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt. They successively staged the “Beijing 2022 Games Promotes the Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region” Exhibition and the “Beijing 2022 Games Promotes the Development of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Sports, Culture and Tourism Belt” Exhibition and launched the “Joyful Road of the Winter Olympics” self-service track. A variety of sporting events were held, such as the Chicheng 100 Cycling Tour and the Hood to Coast China. The Youth Olympic Education Study Programme has been carried out for two consecutive years. More than 4,500 youngsters from Beijing and Zhangjiakou have participated in the study tours at the Beijing Olympic Museum and Olympic venues, and 240 children attended the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Olympic Winter Camp.
