The day 29 July marks a special day in China’s history of the Olympic Games. Let’s look at the following scenes to revisit the memorable moments:
The two films screened on 29 July – The One and Champion – tell the stories of Liu Changchun, the first Chinese athlete participating in the Olympic Games, and Xu Haifeng, China’s first gold medallist at the Olympic Games, respectively. The outdoor screening by the banks of Kunming Lake, in the front of Langru Pavilion and in the Scenic Spot of Farming and Weaving coincided with the summer vocation and attracted a big crowd. The visitors were all deeply impressed by the touching stories of the Chinese athletes and inspired by the Olympic spirit.
As part of the 15th Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival, the film screening is designed to spread the Olympic spirit, promote the Olympic culture and showcase the legacy of the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Together with the “Olympic Journey Through Time – Exhibition on Olympic Summer Games” on the east bank of Kunming Lake, the screening presented to the audience the history of the Modern Olympic Movement over the past three centuries, allowed them to revisit and remember the exciting “Chinese moments” in the history of the Olympic Games, and demonstrated China’s stronger image and rising international influence in the Olympic Movement. The goal is to inspire the people, especially young students, to engage in sports, help promote the Olympic culture, carry forward the Olympic legacy and forge ahead toward a better future.
