Cross-country running, exhibition visiting, and biathlon experiences
600 Sports Enthusiasts in Beijing and Zhangjiakou Celebrate the Olympic Day

On 23 June 2024, the sub-venue event to mark the 38th Olympic Day of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), with the theme of “Let’s Move and Celebrate”, was held at the National Biathlon Centre in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou. Fu Xiaohui, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Beijing Olympic City Development Centre attended and announced the start of the event. Other guests present included Liu Haifeng, Deputy Mayor of Zhangjiakou; Ji Chuanpai, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Beijing Olympic City Development Centre; Guo Zhiwei, Vice Chairman of Zhangjiakou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Director of Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau; Guo Lina, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau; Li Sheng, Party Secretary and Chairman of Zhangjiakou Xingyuan Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd.; Shao Li and Huang Jianjun, members of the Party Leadership Group and deputy directors of Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau; Wu Yan, deputy chief of Chongli District Government; and Zhao Lidong, director of the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Chongli District. They fired the gun to kick off the event.

The event began with a warm-up section accompanied by hit music. As the participants moved their body according to the rhythm of the music, the atmosphere was gradually intensified.

Zhang Muen, the representative of the participating students, read out the proposal calling for all participants to put the Olympic motto into action, carry forward the Olympic spirit, inherit the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games, and actively participate in sports activities regardless of their gender, age, and sports skills.

With the sound of the starting gun, the cross-country run officially began. More than 600 participants stepped onto the track to start the journey.

On the day of the event, the themed exhibition on how the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games drove the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development and biathlon activities were also held at the National Ski Jumping Centre and the National Biathlon Centre respectively, and both were open to the public. Visitors can visit the National Ski Jumping Centre (nicknamed “Snow Ruyi”), and try cross-country pulley and laser shooting, among other interactive experience projects.

The event was hosted by the Chinese Olympic Committee, undertaken by Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau and Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Federation, and co-organised by China Sports Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Beijing Olympic City Development Centre.

Also present at the event was Cui Zheng, Deputy Director of the Project Department, and Qi Xuan, Deputy Director of the Media & Communications Department of the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre.
